LE MANS: PETRUCCI SCORES A BRILLANT 7th PLACE ON HIS DEBUT

A difficult weekend in Lemans for Nolan and X-Lite riders, mainly for junior classes. Kornfeil is disappointed for his 9th place despite a good race while Bastianini does not even start for being injured and unfit. Very far from the top 20 Valtulini, Petrarca, Spiranelli. In Moto2, very good race for Syahrin while Danny Kent has a very difficult weekend because of setting issues for his Kalex. A little more satisfaction comes from Moto GP: Petrucci scores a brilliant 7th place on his debut-coming back after his serious hand injury while Bradle brings his Aprilia in top ten. Next race is Mugello, Italy, May 22nd. It's our home race!
MotoGP   Danilo Petrucci 7°
I'm very happy. Now I can say I feel really better. It has been a difficult period and I thank all those who helped me. I did not know if I would be able to finish the free practice and now I can enjoiy this beautiful seventh place. I'm happy but I do not want to stop here. At Mugello I hope to be able to lap a little closer to the leading group. Thanks to a little luck I managed to gain the seventh place but I can do better. Meanwhile, however, is now time to celebrate this result, especially with my team who as usual did a great job".
Stefan Bradl 10°   “I'm obviously happy about the final result, but not so much about how the race went. I had a great start and I followed my strategy of pushing hard in the first laps. Then, unfortunately, contact with Barbera as I was overtaking him bent my brake lever and I had to fix it on the fly twice as I couldn't find the ideal position. Without this problem I would have been able to stay in the group of riders that were making a play for a better position, and that would have changed my race, although toward the end I was forced to slow down because I was struggling to maintain my pace. It was a difficult weekend, but we are finishing it with a good result anyway”.
Moto2   Hafizh Syahrin 8°   Quite a good race, overall. I have to work hard throughout the entire race. I know I can do better if I improve my qualifying result and I manage to achieve a better grid position for a better race, then. We will continue to work hard and put more emphasis on qualifying for the next race".
Danny Kent 19°   “It has been a very tough weekend for me and the team, we’ve lost a lot of confidence in the front end. This is not where we want to be finishing, we need to figure out where we’re going wrong and we’ll go to Mugello starting from zero. We’ll work in a different way to try and get closer to the front. Sorry to the team as this isn’t where we want to be, we want to be closer to the front. We’ve got some time and we need to check the data and see where to improve.”
Moto3   Jakub Kornfeil 9°   “Today was a difficult race, especially the last fifteen laps. From the start it was good and I gained quite a few positions straight away. I was able to catch the leading group and I felt comfortable to stay with them. I made my way up to fourth and saw an opportunity to pass Navarro but in that moment I put the bike into fourth gear instead of third and it was this mistake that cost me the race. I couldn’t get enough engine braking so I had to go straight on, which cost me a lot of time and positions. After this it was impossible to come back. I passed some riders but it was not enough; the group was pushing so much in front of me. Top ten was not the target today and I’m very unhappy with this result. The bike has been working very well all weekend and it was prepared for the podium; it’s very disappointing for all of us. I feel sorry for the team because they have done an amazing job here and because of this mistake we lost everything. Now I have to regain my focus for Mugello. We know we are strong so we are looking forward to fighting back in Italy.”
